Why this matters
Temporary tables exist only for the current session, so they almost never belong in versioned SQL. If session-scoped scratch storage is required, build it from application code.
Examples
Incorrect
CREATE TEMP TABLE staging (id int);Correct
CREATE TABLE staging (id int);Configure it
// eslint.config.js
import postgresql from "eslint-plugin-postgresql";
export default [
{
files: ["**/*.sql"],
languageOptions: {
parser: postgresql.configs.recommended.languageOptions.parser,
},
plugins: { postgresql },
rules: {
"postgresql/no-temporary-table": "warn",
},
},
]; Options
Edit the SQL — only no-temporary-table is enabled.
Pre-filled with the first incorrect example. Toggle off in the rule shelf to see how the diagnostic disappears.
